Interview On Campus

On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) provides employers with the opportunity to conduct interviews for full-time positions and internships. A successful on-campus recruiting process takes four to six weeks from start to finish and includes the following:

  • Schedule on-campus recruitment (OCR) interview date
  • Post position(s) and set selection criteria (major, degree level, graduation dates, work authorization)
  • Collect resumes online
  • Select and invite candidates to interview
  • Candidates schedule interview time

 

INTERVIEW ROOM POLICY

GOLD TIME-The Day after a Career Fair

What is it? Employers attending a career fair will receive first priority for private interview space in Young Hall and Hicks Library the day after they attend a career fair.

How many private interview rooms can be reserved? Companies will be provided a maximum of 4 private interview rooms in.

 

SILVER TIME-Peak Interviewing Season

What is it? Silver time includes peak interviewing seasons for the Fall semester (September-mid October) and the Spring semester (first half of February). It does not include days after career fairs (Gold Time).

How many private interview rooms in Young Hall and Hicks Library can be reserved?

 

BRONZE TIME-Non-Peak Interviewing Season

What is it? Any time that is not fall into the Gold and Silver Time categories.

How many private interview rooms in Young Hall and Hicks Library can be reserved?

  • CCO 21st Century Partner members-Director’s Circle-max 16 interview rooms
  • CCO 21st Century Partner members-Executive level-max 14 interview rooms
  • CCO 21st Century Partner members-Corporate level-max 12 interview rooms
  • All other employers recruiting at Purdue -max 10 interview rooms

 

ocr models

Depending on your recruitment needs, there are different OCR models that may work best for your organization.

preselect

The preselect model is the preferred OCR method. After you post your positions(s), students and/or alumni submit their resume for consideration. After the resume submission period ends, you invite your preferred candidates to interview and candidates sign-up for interviews directly through NACElink.

preselect to alternate

Same as Preselect, however, you can also select alternates to fill the interview slots that are not filled by your preselect candidates.

resume collection

A Resume Collection (RC) is a great strategy to test the interest of the candidate pool for a particular position, particularly when your recruiting time frame is short. If you find you have enough candidates to interview, this model can easily be converted to a preselect OCR schedule.

This is also a great option if you are not able to come to campus to interview. After you post your position and receive resumes, you may coordinate the interviews at your office or another location off-campus.

room reservation only

An interview room is reserved for your use all day. No position is attached to this reservation, and you manage the interview schedule. We require that you submit your interview schedule to your employer coordinator at least 2 business days prior to your interview date.

set your ocr date

To schedule an On-Campus Recruitment (OCR) date, you must register for a NACElink at Purdue account. Registration requests are typically processed the same day but may take up to 2 business days during peak times. Once your request has been approved, you will receive confirmation and log-in instructions via email.

You can submit OCR Requests via your NACElink at Purdue account by logging in and clicking "Request a New OCR Interview Date," from the shortcuts menu on the right-hand side of your NACElink at Purdue homepage.

If you have a NACElink at Purdue account but are having trouble requesting your OCR dates, you may contact the CCO’s Scheduling Coordinator, Tricia Johnson at 765.494.8740.

After you select an interview date and post your position, candidates can begin submitting their resumes. If you do not attach your position to your interview date, you will not receive resumes. If the CCO staff determines resume submission is low, we will market the opportunity to qualified students who meet your position requirements.

Once the resume submission deadline passes, you select the candidates you wish to interview. It is imperative that you make interview selections in OCR by the “Employer Select End Date.”

Once students sign up for interview slots, you may wish to check the interview schedule for any gaps. If you have gaps, you can fill these in an information session.

If you chose to email your selected candidates to notify them to sign-up for an interview, we ask that you not email them until they are able to schedule their interview.

Purdue University is on Eastern Time year-round. We "spring forward," recognizing Eastern Daylight Time in the spring and "fall back" to Eastern Standard Time in the fall, remaining the same time as the East Coast.

From the South: (for the most direct route with less traffic)
Take I-65 North to State Rd 43 (exit 178) Exit is marked West Lafayette- Brookston. Turn left onto State Rd 43. Drive south on S.R.43 (approximately 6 miles) to State St (State Rd 26.) This will be the 4th stop light, McDonalds will be on your right. Turn right onto State Street. Remain in the right lane. Proceed up State Street hill to Grant Street (2nd stop light on State. ) Turn right onto Grant Street to the Grant Street Parking Garage at 120 N. Grant Street, West Lafayette, IN. Walk across Grant Street, turn left and cross State Street. Continue on Grant Street past the Krannert Building and enter the front door of Young Hall.
