HOW DID YOU GET  HERE? My first college major was Accounting.  I changed my major to Business Management with a minor in Human Resources Management after my first semester.  After graduation, I worked for a steel company in the Employee Benefits department where I paid the company portion of our employees’ health care premiums.  90% of the contact I had with employees was listening to their complaints and explaining their retirement benefits options to them (there were over 30 retirement options)!  I met with a Career Coach for 10 weeks and he helped me through having me do self-assessments and career investigation.  This led me to returning to school to obtain a Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, which fit me much better and has allowed me to fuel my interests.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT WORKING AT THE CCO? I enjoy taking on additional projects outside of counseling that allow me to develop and utilize my other interests. I also enjoy being a part of a staff that is genuinely interested in what is going on in my personal life, as well as the lives of other staff.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL JOB YOU EVER HAD? In high school, I collected and cashed in soda cans for $0.05 each (My parents bought lots of canned juices and sodas so I cleaned them out, collected them, and took them to the recycle center once a month.  I usually made $100-150 each month)

FAVORITE THINGS: Organizing things, dancing, walking/trail hiking, baking and trying new recipes, entertaining friends, spending time with my husband and sons, writing in my journal

QUOTE YOU LIVE BY: If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got.

ADVICE FOR STUDENTS: Take time to thank those who helped you accomplish your goals and always look for opportunities to do the same for others.
