HOW DID YOU GET  HERE?

As an undergraduate I studied English, literature, history, and German. After completing two degrees, I began working in Student Services. A Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in multiculturalism seemed a natural progression. During my time at Purdue University I have served in a variety of roles at the Black Cultural Center and in Residential Life.  Joining the CCO is a great match where I can utilize my skills and background to focus on serving students.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?

Serving, assisting, supporting and advising students on their path towards achieving academic success.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL JOB YOU EVER HAD?

One of my first jobs was as a sample model for a small, upscale clothing boutique.

FAVORITE THINGS:

Traveling to visit and explore historical sites, reading biographies, attending concerts, collecting LPs, and spending time in my home library.

QUOTE YOU LIVE BY:

“Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible.’” – Audrey Hepburn

“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it.  If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.  If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” – Nora Roberts

ADVICE FOR STUDENTS:

During your time at Purdue, take advantage of the opportunities available to you.  These are provided so you will have a full collegiate experience, and, many will enhance your academic pursuits as well as aid in your overall growth.  Join a student organization, attend Convo’s and lectures, visit the cultural centers, attend athletic events, take in a Purdue Theatre production, and much more!  Schedule an appointment at the CCO, find out what the Academic Success Center (ASC) has to offer, take part in Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions, and most importantly, get to know your professors. After you complete your degree and look back on your time at Purdue, you will be so glad you did!
