Senior Career Services Consultant

HOW DID YOU GET  HERE? I love works that allow me to interact with people and be helpful. So after I finished my bachelor of science in engineering, I switched field and pursued a master in counseling and counselor education. Informational interview landed me to work here at CCO after I got my master degree. After a year of working as a visiting career service consultant, I switched into a GA position, continued to meet students to talk about career development and life, and started to pursue my doctorate degree in engineering education (ENE is the best!), with a research focus on career development. During 2017, I got hired by this same office for the third time as a full time career services consultant, and continued with my doctoral study. Now I'm enjoying my life as a practioner and researcher at the same time!

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB? The variety approaches we take to serve students, the colleagues who are always reliable, the trust that students give us, just to name a few.

WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL JOB YOU EVER HAD? I like design and art so I’ve been working on and off to design brochures, newsletters, newspaper, and college orientation special issues; I also make videos occasionally.

FAVORITE THINGS: Counseling; time with friends and family; cooking, lakes, oceans and nature resorts; Professor Dumbledore from Harry Potter.

QUOTE YOU LIVE BY: The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change. The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination. Carl Rogers

ADVICE FOR STUDENTS: Accept and love yourself. When you have doubts about yourself, reflect on the moments of your previous success. Career development is a long journey and it’s ok that you don’t get you dream job right after graduation.
