STEPS TO SUCCESSFUL RECRUITING IN A VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT

1. Optimize Your Profile

Ensure your Company Profile on Purdue’s primary recruiting platform, Purdue Career Gateway, is complete and current to make a strong impression on potential candidates. Upload your logo, share your company culture, and provide key statistics, photos, or videos to inform and impress students.

2. Register for Career Fairs

Connect with candidates across targeted majors by participating in upcoming events. Purdue hosts a variety of virtual, hybrid, and in-person Career Fairs throughout the year.

3. Request an Information Session

Host an interactive and engaging presentation (such as a Tech Talk or Coffee Chat) using your preferred virtual platform.

  • From the Shortcuts menu on the left side of your Purdue Career Gateway dashboard, click Events, then click Information Sessions, then click Request Informaiton Session in the middle of the screen.
  • Select Information Session – Virtual from the dropdown menu.
  • In person informaiton sessions can also be requested using this method. 
  • Complete all required fields.

4. Schedule Interviews

Streamline your selection process and interview qualified candidates directly through the platform.

  • From the Shortcuts menu on the left side of your Purdue Career Gateway dashboard, click OCR, then click Schedules, then Request a Schedule in the middle of the screen.
  • Select the current semester and choose the Preselect OCR Model to screen and invite your preferred applicants.
  • Complete the remaining fields.
  • Purdue Career Gateway will automatically organize your interview schedule based on the virtual platform link you provide.
  • OCR interview types are not required. Employers can post non-OCR type opportunities in Purdue Career Gateway and build schedules with thier own software or tools.
